How does Inter-Active Telecom home phone service work?

Our home phone service is based on the Voice Over Internet Protcol. It uses the internet to transport your voice being converted by the ATA(Analog Telephone Adapter). This gives us the ability to be more economical and flexible.

What internet connection do I need to use Inter-Active phone?

The phone service provided by Inter-Active Telecom requires a high speed DSL or Cable internet connection that is alway-on.

Do I need to leave my computer on in order to make/receive calls?

No, your telephone equipment operates seperately from you computer. Your service will work as long as your Modem, Router and ATA continue to have power.

Can I keep my existing phone number?

Yes. In most cases we can transfer numbers from your existing telephone service provider.

How long after I subscribe will my installation be completed?

Installation in most cases is 4 -7 business days.

Can I use multiple phones with Inter-Active home phone service?

When the installation is completed at your home, the installer will make every effort to activate existing telephone jacks in your home

Can I make long distance calls with Inter-Active home phone?

Yes, you can make long distance calls from your home phone. We have great per minute rates!!! Or you may wish to add one of our unlimited long distance calling packages.

What is Usage Based Billing (UBB)?

With usage-based billing, High Speed Internet usage will be measured and capped to a set monthly limit. Additional usage will be charged per gigabyte.

Will Usage Based Billing (UBB) affect my account?

UBB is only applicable to Residential DSL accounts at the moment. UBB does not apply to Web hosting and or any type of business account.

Why is Inter-Active implementing Usage-Based Billing?

In October 2010, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) awarded final approval to Bell Canada to implement usage-based billing on the wholesale Internet services that companies (like Inter-Active) use to provide retail Internet services. As a result, Inter-Active is implementing usage-based billing on all of its High Speed Internet services.

How does Usage-Based Billing work?

Commencing March 2011, Ontario subscribers with an existing High Speed Internet plan will now have 25GB (gigabytes) of monthly usage included; Quebec subscribers will have 60GB. Additional usage up to 300GB will be charged at $2.25/GB to a maximum of $67.50/month. Usage in excess of 300GB per month will be charged an additional $1.50/GB.

Can I purchase additional usage plans?

Don't worry about how much you upload and download. Starting from only $5/month, Additional Usage Plans give you extra monthly usage on top of the usage included with your High Speed Internet plan. Plan Additional Usage $5/month 40 GB $10/month 80 GB $15/month 120 GB Additional usage purchased will be applied to your next full billing period and all subsequent billing periods. Any cancellations will begin with your next full billing period and all subsequent billing periods. Additional Usage Plans apply only for full billing periods and will not be pro-rated for periods of less than one month.

How many gigabytes (GB) do different online activities use?

1GB of usage will allow you to do the following things (approximate measurements): View 26,000 web pages or Send 105,000 e-mails or Attach over 2,000 Microsoft Word documents (of about 10 pages each) or Receive up to 500 digital photos or Download more than 200 songs or Stream 18 hours of music from the web or Download 1.5 movies (or 2/3 of a movie in high definition) or Play games online for 240 hours (or 10 days)

As you may know, Canada Post employees may be on strike at any time,

which may delay the delivery of your Inter-Active Telecom paper bill.

If there is a strike, we'll still need to receive your payment by the required payment date noted on your bill.



For your convenience, you can contact us and add an email address to your account.

We will then send your invoice by email.



During the Canada Post employee strike, please do not mail your payment as it may not

reach us by the required payment date.
